Today I felt like being a little bit different. This post idea came to mind whilst sat at my desk (in my office) drinking a good cup of coffee. Sometimes we all need a pick me up and I've got just the right thing for you. A post full of inspirational quotes to help make anyone's Monday better, I'm sure we all get the Monday blues.
Hopefully my quick pick me up post has done the trick and helped us all have a better Monday afternoon. Let me know in the comments if you'd like to see more posts like this.
Finding your way in the world is tough especially when it’s
time to move away from home. For most
students it’s exciting but for others it’s a worry. Not only are you moving in with people you
don’t know but you’re moving away from family, people you have lived with
forever. It’s a big step. The biggest stress of all is how you’re going
to pay for it, that’s certainly on my mind.
University is supposed to be a fun time a time when you
spread your wings and grow up. But
growing up brings the responsibilities of paying bills and having your own
place to look after. I’m here with 5
money saving tips for all you Uni Survivors!
Tip No 1:
When it comes to paying bills I know that gas and electricity
can be very expensive especially now that the colder months are coming, everyone’s
going to want to turn up the heating. So
to tackle the colder weather why not throw on a jumper or grab a blanket. This will save you money on your heating bill
and is probably more snug.
If you’re a new student and haven’t paid for your own gas
and electricity before then
Money Supermarket
might be right for you.
There are
hundreds of offers on their website that will help you.
They usually have some great deals if you’re
new to their company.
Take a look and
see what you could save.
Tip No 2:
Broadband charges can be one of the most expensive bills you
have to pay. Not anymore. As the world of technology changes its
becoming easier and cheaper to get on the net.
Vodaphone have brought out a new kind of internet box where you don’t
need to pay for a phone line as well. BONUS!
If you’re a student who doesn’t need a sky box or a phone line then
opting for this kind of internet service is probably the best option. Keep a look out for great deals.
Tip No 3:
One thing that is a big issue at the moment is Council Tax,
it’s not cheap and can see you massively out of pocket. Councils rarely advertise that students get a
reduced Council Tax or even sometimes it’s FREE yes FREE!! If you’re a student and you live with other
students then your Council Tax could be dramatically reduced or even FREE.
So that’s more money in your pocket for those days where you
need it most.
Tip No 4:
Most Students in the UK opt for a Maintenance Loan meaning
they get a certain about of money from
Student Finance England. Instead
of blowing all this at once why not open an ISA with your bank and earn some
interest on the money you get.
If you
have a student bank account then there are some great deals out there on
savings accounts.
The money you save
could be part of what you pay back.
Let’s
face it we all like to spend money but saving it is probably best in the long
run.
Tip No 5:
Earn cash back on the things you buy, I recently found this
out when I was on my banks website.
Most
banks have jumped onto this recently including Barclays and Lloyds.
You can earn cash back on everyday items that
you buy, free money great.
Check out the
Lloyds
site and
Barclays
for more information.
I know saving is hard not just when you’re a student but for
everyone. Hopefully these tips will help
you out and help you survive uni.

2 0f the best MAC Lipsticks, Ever!
The first ever high-end makeup product I bought was Russian
Red lipstick by MAC, and since then MAC lipsticks have been some of my
favourites.
When I first got to the counter to find my very first
lipstick, I was baffled by what the
MAC finishes meant, but now that I’ve gotten to grips with the
entire system, I can’t help but add to my collection every now and then.
However, there are two that have stuck in my mind as favourites for many years,
and I’ll always find myself returning to them.
Here are two of my favourite MAC lipsticks (and why they’re
so amazing):
#1 | Patisserie
My favourite nude lipstick of all time is Patisserie and
it’s probably my all-time favourite makeup product. I got this on Anna's recommendation a few years ago
and I've been through about 3 tubes since… That’s how obsessed I am!
It's achieved holy grail status due to its ability to make
my pale skin look less-washed out than other nude lipsticks do. It's a Lustre
finish, meaning its sheer and easy to apply - so much so that you don't need a
mirror to apply it.
I've applied this whilst on the bus before and the result
came out much better than expected! No smears across the face and no
patchiness… Result.
#2 | Rebel
Another favourite is Rebel; a classic staple that is
basically my everyday look in the Autumn/Winter months.
It's a gorgeous deep purple that comes out brighter on the
lips than it looks in the tube. This is the most versatile lipstick I own - you
can wear it on its own, lightly patted onto the lips as a subtle stain or mixed
with a red lipstick to create a deep burgundy colour. It's a Satin finish so
it's long wearing and has an opaque colour.

Now that summer is almost over I thought I would share with you some of my summer essentials. When it comes to Summer I LOVE all things bright and colourful, my all time summer essential would have to be a good pair of sun glasses.
When it comes to summer there are numerous things I think about, the warm sun, ice cold drinks, ice cream and many more, most of which I have included here. The nights are getting lighter which means more time for fun in my opinion. It also means it’s time to pull out the bright summery lippys, skirts and dresses. Any excuse for me to wear a dress or a skirt is a win win situation.
For me the best part of summer is been able to relax during weekends and been able to go on long walks. I pretty much love everything about summer, well when it is sunny. Summer always gets me thinking about childhood and the long summer holidays you used to get. Playing on bikes, chasing ice cream vans and water fights were the highlight of my summer when I was younger.
Usually in the Summer I have to look after my skin much more, taking extra care to make sure I apply that sun cream so I don’t turn into a bright red tomato, something that has happened to me a lot. Recommending a Sun Cream for me is easy; I adore the Garnier Ambre Solaire Clear Protect Spray with SPF 30. I find many Sun Creams leave white marks because they either don’t rub in properly or they are too thick and greasy which affects my skin. Garnier seem to have the right balance with their Sun Cream, it isn’t too thick or too watery and it doesn’t leave white marks on the skin. By far the best Sun Cream I have ever used.
On hot summer days make-up is deffo not on my list especially those hot, muggy, sticky kind of days that we get a lot here. I would highly recommend a good BB cream rather than a heavy foundation. Most BB Creams have SPF in them also another plus, two products in one! If you’re looking for something to cover up those blemishes and imperfections I’ve got you girl! BB Creams not only are good because they have SPF but there lightly tinted colour makes it a great alternative to foundation. I 100% dig into my makeup case to find the trusty BB Cream when it gets to Summer, it is so much lighter on the skin!
Let’s recommend some Lippys. Another summer essential of mine would be a nude lip colour and Kate Moss’s collection with Rimmel London has got us all covered for the nude lip! My go to nude colour from this collection is the Boho Nude, pairs well if you’re going for that simple but elegant look. What’s your Nude colour?
On days where I am feeling a little more adventurous I would probably switch up the Nude lip for a brighter pink colour, Pink is of course my favourite colour. Barry M do a great pink colour which I pretty much am obsessed with. I particularly like their Pink Ribbon colour, its long lasting and overall a great colour. Deffo a must for those days where you just want to be a girly girl.
During Summer I like to jump out of my comfort zone particularly when choosing outfits. I am a lair it up winter kinda gal so I mainly wear Jeans, T-shirts and dresses. In the Summer I like to mix it up a bit. My go to Summer outfit at the minute would be a good old denim dungaree dress, trainers and a baggy T-shirt, stepping back a few years and re-living my childhood - fantastic. Finding a decent dungaree dress for me isn’t easy, who knew there were so many choices! At the moment I have been loving New Looks black simple dungaree dress with a green oversized long sleeve T-shirt and of course a pair of trusty old white trainers.
Sun glasses are a must in the summer time. I have been loving a pair that a recently picked up from New Look, just a simple pair that were really inexpensive. I take my sun glasses everywhere with me and love the fact that they pair well with anything. I have been contemplating picking up a pair of Ray Bans but I think mine are perfect for now.
My hair freaks out during summer and nearly always looks a mess. Well definitely in the mornings but we all have that “bed head” kind of look. Right? I switch up my hair care during summer and take better care of it, something I should do all year. I use a frizz protector each morning, it smoothes my hair and makes it much easier to style. My hair product essential must be the Batiste Dry Shampoo, its amazing! My favourite one is the limited edition Ella Henderson, Sweet and Seductive. It smells great and really works wonders on your hair. I use it on a morning before styling; it makes styling easier and gives you a better finish on your hair style.
Bourjois do a really good face powder. I love using this in summer it’s great for touching up your make up on the go. It helps reduce shine and removes sweat from your face without having to wipe away the rest of the make-up. I pick it up from my local Superdrugs and it’s very inexpensive.
As for essential body mists and deodorants I use the Dove Go Fresh as for the scent well it is summer essentials so I would say the pomegranate one that’s my favourite. I am a big fan of The Body Shop and they usually have some pretty good summer body mists I use the White Musk Body Mist and it’s great, it smells fresh and well it’s just shouts out summer to me. By far the best smelling body mist I have ever used however I do quite like the Victoria Secret ones too.
Food! Who doesn’t like food, my all time favourite summer snack is Watermelon. It’s deliciously tasty and full of water so keeps you hydrated even on the hottest days of summer. During summer I LOVE to eat fruit, it’s probably the only healthy snack I eat. Ice creams are always great too in summer especially the Mr Whippy ones oh and you’ve got to have a flake or two or even maybe three! You’re never too old for a Mr Whippy from the Ice cream van, wait are they even still around? Drinking in the summer is pretty important especially when it’s very hot. I love drinking an iced cold glass of water, so refreshing. I like to make jugs of water and add fruit to it to make flavoured water; makes water taste 100% better.
